Long Covid patient list hits 92,000

Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton has today accused the Health Secretary of abandoning long Covid sufferers as new figures published today show the number of people reporting that they had experienced the condition by 2 October soared to 92,000, up 13,000 on the previous month.

Cole-Hamilton calls for extra support for nurses

Responding to a new analysis by the Royal College of Nursing Scotland showing that the shortfall in Registered Nurses in Scotland has risen to a record high, Scottish Liberal Democrat Leader and health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP said:

“After 14 years of SNP neglect and a poorly managed pandemic, it comes to no surprise that overworked nurses are deciding to leave.

Cole-Hamilton urges Government to end deadlock on drug consumption rooms

McArthur presses Health Secretary over NHS dentistry crisis

Orkney's MSP, Liam McArthur has today (Wednesday) pressed the Health Secretary to drop plans to end emergency funding to NHS dental services.

Last month, Cabinet Secretary Humza Yousaf wrote to all NHS dental teams confirming that all emergency support will be withdrawn by 1 April 2022.  During an exchange in the Scottish Parliament chamber, Mr McArthur called on Mr Yousaf to "think again".

Waiting times crisis “not safe”

The number of people being seen in A&E within the target time has dropped below 70% for the first time since this publication began.

Public Health Scotland data shows that in the week ending 24 October 2021, just 69.6% of people were seen within the target of four hours. Scotland-wide, this amounted to almost two thousand people (1,948) waiting more than 8 hours to be seen.
