Christine Murdoch

Personal Statement:

I am a Church of Scotland minister, living in Kilcreggan and serving Garelochhead and the Rosneath Peninsula. I have been a member of local executive committees in Maryhill, Orkney and Dumbarton.
Having served on the Executive Committee from 1999 - 2002 and again since 2018, I am seeking re-election to the Committee. I have a record of good attendance. I have also served on the Policy Committee and I am currently co-convenor of Scottish Liberal Democrat Women.
After 26 years of devolution, we are living under an extremely authoritarian and centralising government in Holyrood. Scottish politics needs another reformation, with more decisions being taken closer to the people they affect.
I know the need for a fully integrated transport policy that invests in public transport included ferries. We need to improve our education system. I understand the plight of child poverty and have sought to work to ease this atrocity. Daily, I see the life limiting effects of increased NHS waiting times. More decisions made locally would help with all these issues. 150 Rising is already bringing positive changes to Scotland.

What skills/experience will you bring to the role?

I have the experience, enthusiasm and energy to continue the serving on the Executive Committee. As a parish minister, I would bring integrity, enthusiasm; conscientiousness to the role. I have many years of experience on the Executive Committee and I know how the Scottish Liberal Democrats work.
I am committed to subsidiarity and electoral reform.

What do you hope to achieve if elected?

To ensure that Liberal Democrats continue to win seats in Councils up and down the country and more MPs, MSPs and members of the Senedd so that Liberal policies are able to be rolled out across the country, especially for electoral reform and subsidiarity.
