Leo Dempster
Personal Statement:
I will be concluding my 3rd term as Convenor of the Scottish Young Liberals at the end of this year and have thoroughly enjoyed my time representing and growing the organisation within the party, however I feel it is now time to move onto new challenges and to let new members gain the valuable experiences and connections which I have made over the past 3 years. I feel that that experience which I have gained is worth using to make sure that a wide range of voices are heard across the parties committees.
What skills/experience will you bring to the role?
I will be concluding my third term as convenor of the SYL and feel that the experience that I have gained in the execution of conference, both Scottish & Federal Young Liberals to be invaluable, I plan on working with the new Scottish Young Liberals Executive to continue to make Scottish Conference more accessible to young people.
I have sat on Scottish Conference Committee for the previous 2 conferences in Glasgow and Inverness and have helped to organise Young Liberals Conferences in Cambridge, London, Sheffield and Newcastle. as well as now being the Federal Young Liberals Events Officer.
What do you hope to achieve if elected?
If elected I hope that we can continue to run conferences to a high standard and make them accessible to as many members as possible, especially younger members and those from backgrounds which are underrepresented within the party.
