Personal Statement:
Because the Committee has no codified knowledge base, an issue that I hope our next Convener will address, institutional memory is our only store of best practice. After 32 conferences on the Committee, mine is the longest. Please give me your #1 to keep my experienced voice at the table.
What skills/experience will you bring to the role?
✔️ A 360-degree Understanding of Conference
Over seventeen years, my roles on the Committee have changed, but my involvement has been constant. I have hands-on experience in every part of the Conference pipeline. My understanding is not just theoretical, it is practical.
✔️ A Clifton Terrace and Campaigns Veteran
I served the party in employed roles that involved collaborating with and being managed by volunteers for several years. I work well with party staff because I have been in their shoes before.
✔️ A Passion for Procedure
I wrote our new Standing Orders, and I have helped many motions get onto the Agenda by offering drafting advice both general and technical.
What do you hope to achieve if elected?
My goal is to serve as the Committee's institutional memory and its 'expert in residence'. I will support the new Convener by providing expert advice on our new Standing Orders, ensuring they are implemented effectively. I will be a driving force for establishing the clear, sensible and defined workflows our Committee currently lacks. I will continue to do what I have done in the past: to offer my time and my dedication in whatever way the Committee considers would be most helpful in delivering a Conference that is valuable to our members.
