Candidate for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk

Ray Georgeson

Ray Georgeson is an award-winning recycling campaigner and experienced former local councillor and council leader. He has had a successful career in the recycling and resource management industries over many decades, with roles in the public, private and voluntary sectors. He is presently a senior manager in a major Scottish environmental organisation.

He was Leader of Otley Town Council in Yorkshire from 2015-19 where he initiated several significant investments and improvements to the town’s infrastructure and environment, including successful restoration of a Grade II Listed monument, an investment fund to support developments in the town and various practical green initiatives to reduce waste and improve biodiversity.

Ray and his family relocated to Duns, Berwickshire several years ago and they are proud to call the Borders their home and are busy getting involved in various sporting and cultural activities.

He is a member of Green Liberal Democrats and Liberal Democrat Humanists and Secularists, and has held various roles in the Party over two decades of political activity. His priorities for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk will be to focus on the needs of our rural area, a fair deal for farmers, affordable homes for our young families, an improved rural bus network, sustainable economic and tourism development and of course – campaigning for our vital NHS, tackling waiting lists and protecting local hospitals.
