Paul McGarry

Paul McGarry is the Scottish Liberal Democrat candidate for Glasgow South West, focusing on issues of housing and homelessness as the party’s spokesperson. Paul has campaigned for social justice over a number of years, including supporting community projects that tackle poverty and provide support in accessing services.

Paul has a lived experience of homelessness he received an opportunity as an apprentice youthworker that saw him move to Scotland. Paul continues to work volunteering in youth and community projects.

Paul now works in business and specialises in Health and safety, mental health and neurodiversity training. Paul has used his professional experience in particular to champion greater support around Mental Health and Neurodiversity.

In politics Paul has campaigned for greater support for care experienced young people, as well as those who have lived in temporary accommodation. He has also championed First Aid and the need to improve access to training, he has been a member of the cross party group on human trafficking in the Scottish parliament and has also campaigned to tackle the housing crisis with innovative proposals.

Paul has a long history with the Glasgow South West constituency and has been involved in several projects based throughout the constituency.
