Angus MacDonald

Angus lives near Fort William where he owns the ‘best cinema in the UK’ the Highland Cinema and Highland Bookshop. After a few years in the Queen’s own Highlanders, he started his own business, leading to an excellent career building companies in publishing, renewables, recycling and online education. He won both UK and Scottish entrepreneur of the year awards in 2017.

He has written several well reviewed historical novels published by Birlinn.

Angus founded the Caledonian Challenge, an endurance walk down the West Highland Way that over 20 years raised £14m for charity.

His charitable trust, the Moidart Trust helps small businesses in the Highlands grow and thrive and supports Highland culture, ie music and the arts.

He was awarded an OBE for services to the Highlands and is a Highland Councillor for Fort William and Ardnamurchan.

Angus is married to Michie, they have four adult sons.
