Sneaky SNP delay key EV charging plan

Responding to the Scottish Government’s announcement that they are delaying their implementation plan for an EV charging network, Scottish Liberal Democrat transport spokesperson Jamie Greene MSP said:

“In classic SNP fashion, ministers have snuck out this announcement on the final day of parliament, hoping it won’t be noticed.

“They have already messed around EV drivers by failing to get the network up to scratch. Right now, too many parts of the country lack the charging points they need, especially rural areas, and lots of chargers are prone to breaking down.

“We should be supporting everyone who's trying to make the switch to greener travel, and that's why my party have called for EV drivers in rural Scotland to receive relief from the new electric car charge. That should be backed up by a massive expansion of the charging network to cover every corner of the country.

"Liberal Democrats want to get Scotland moving again- the SNP want to keep it in the slow lane.”
