Scottish Lib Dems respond to food subsidies announcement

“Today’s news has been a long time coming, and I’m glad that the agriculture industry can finally plan for the future.

“Many have been extremely worried about this support dropping off from a cliff edge. The Scottish Government’s slow-footed approach has already caused delays and undermined investment.

“There are still many unknowns here, and that includes what proportion of agriculture funding will be made available to Scotland by Westminster.

“Scottish Liberal Democrats continue to work hard with our Westminster colleagues and the industry to support sustainable food production and environmental management.  

“The quality of Scottish produce is recognised worldwide but it needs both our governments to make commitments that match that.”
