Scottish Lib Dem candidate on Ewing announcement

Responding to Fergus Ewing’s decision to stand as an independent in 2026, Scottish Liberal Democrat candidate for Inverness & Nairn Neil Alexander said:
“Fergus Ewing has sat around the cabinet table or on the backbenches for the entirety of the SNP's 18 years in government. He can't just walk away from the big part he has played in their record of failing the Highlands.
"While the two nationalists try to turn our constituency into a battleground for their party feud, I’m focused on what really matters to people here.
“I’m listening to residents across Inverness and Nairn, and the message is clear - we need real action on dualling the A9 and A96, proper investment in Raigmore Hospital, urgent improvements in mental health services and an end to the sewage scandal affecting our rivers and beaches.
"More and more people are backing the Scottish Liberal Democrats and our victory in the General Election proved that we can win this seat."
