Scot Lib Dems respond to care service update

Responding to today's Scottish Government update on the future of care services, Liberal Democrat Scottish Affairs spokesperson Christine Jardine MP said:

"Buried somewhere in this word salad seems to be an acknowledgement at long last of the importance of local expertise and local input.

"However, given the enthusiasm with which the government have pursued a bureaucratic and expensive system with ministers in charge, no one should be applauding just yet. There is every chance this will just be another attempt to dress up an SNP takeover as a local scheme.

“Scottish Liberal Democrats have stood up against this ministerial takeover from day one because we know a billion pound bureaucracy would fail to address the problems at the root of social care. This is money that needs to be spent on frontline services and staff who are overwhelmed on every shift.”
