Scot Lib Dems condemn STV cuts to northern news

Responding to the news that Ofcom has approved proposals by STV which will allow the station to get rid of its north of Scotland news programme, North East Scotland MSP Yi-pei Chou Turvey said:

"This is a blow to households outside the central belt. It will make it harder for people to find out what is going on in the North East and across the Highlands.

"Scottish Liberal Democrats protested these changes because we believe the issues and challenges faced by those in the North and North East of Scotland deserves to be better represented in the national news.

"The STV Chief Executive will now need to set out in detail what he will be doing to ensure that quality coverage of local issues is maintained."
