Review finds Creative Scotland "distant" and "bureaucratic"
Responding to the independent review of Creative Scotland led by Angela Leitch which found the organisation is "too bureaucratic", appears "distant and impersonal" to many in the sector and needs "greater ambition", Scottish Liberal Democrat culture spokesperson and candidate for Inverness and Nairn Neil Alexander commented:
"Everyone who has to deal with Creative Scotland seems to have a story to tell about how they've been messed around.
"The SNP Government has chopped and changed the culture budget, risking jobs and leaving people feeling betrayed.
"Scottish Liberal Democrats would take away the needless bureaucracy faced by those applying for funding, tackle the big city bias in how money is distributed and remove barriers to artists touring by fixing our broken relationship with Europe.
"Scotland's culture sector deserves better. In many constituencies like Inverness and Nairn we are on the verge of winning against the SNP, but wherever you are, every vote for the Scottish Liberal Democrats on the second, peach ballot will deliver change with fairness at its heart."
