Murray responds to King’s Speech
Responding to the King's Speech, Liberal Democrat Scottish Affairs spokesperson Susan Murray MP said:
“Last week, voters sent the Prime Minister a clear message that Britain wants change: to tackle the cost of living, fix our NHS and get our country moving again.
“This King's Speech doesn’t do nearly enough to fix those things and address the insecurity this country faces. There are sensible measures in there like breaking the link between gas and electricity prices and investment in homegrown renewable power which we have long called for.
“However, we urgently need to see more ambition and action, including on fixing our broken relationship with Europe to grow our economy and to tackle the cost of living.
“Last week, Liberal Democrats grew our number of councillors and MSPs because we offered people change. The government should be focused on delivering that change, rather than squabbles over the Labour leadership.”
