Murray comments on Burnham speech
Responding to Andy Burnham’s speech, Liberal Democrat Scottish Affairs spokesperson Susan Murray MP said:
“Too many Scottish communities feel like they don’t have any real say over how their area is run.
“Council budgets have been slashed, while distant governments in Edinburgh and London tell them how they should run their lives and the services they rely on.
“We urgently need to shift power into the hands of local communities. But that has to mean actually listening to people and councils and giving them a real say – not imposing a one-size-fits-all answer from the top.
“Liberal Democrats have long made the case for devolving powers to grow the nations, regions and communities that make up the UK. We will turn up the pressure on both Andy Burnham and John Swinney to deliver.”
