Responding to the Prime Minister's statement on Britain's relationship with Europe, Liberal Democrat MP Susan Murray said:

"Government after government has turned a blind eye to the huge damage caused by the Johnson-Farage Brexit deal. It's good to hear Andy Burnham acknowledge that Brexit has done more harm than good, and that our most important international relationship must be repaired.

"The Liberal Democrats have set out a concrete plan to join the single market and customs union. Doing so would enable us to grow the economy and put money back in people's pockets with tax cuts while also strengthening our defences.

"The prime minister should drop Labour’s red lines and take up our plan now. Every day and month we delay starting serious talks with the EU, we do more damage to our economy.

"Let's restore our trading links, tear down new barriers like Made in Europe and give our country the boost people and businesses are crying out for.”
