McArthur comments as domestic abuse figures rise again
Commenting on new figures showing the number of domestic abuse incidents rising for a second year in a row, Liam McArthur MSP said:
"It's disappointing to see a further rise in domestic abuse incidents. While this will partly reflect the increased willingness of survivors to come forward, the true scale of this crime is difficult to measure because a large proportion of cases still go unreported.
"A key priority has to be giving the police the resources they need to keep people safe and the training to ensure every victim of domestic abuse feels comfortable coming forward.
“Scottish Liberal Democrats want the immediate commencement of Part 1 of the Domestic Abuse Act to introduce protection notices and protection orders that enable urgent action. We also want to see the Scottish Government work with COSLA to establish a single point of contact within a local authority, ensuring victims only have to tell their story once."
