Lib Dems deliver millions in funding to tackle Long Covid

Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton has today hailed a major budget win for his party as the Scottish Government announced details of a £4.5 million fund which will deliver specialist support for long COVID and other similar conditions.
It has also been announced today that the funding will be recurring, delivering £4.5m per year to support those with long COVID, myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME)/chronic fatigue syndrome and other similar conditions.
This fund was a major commitment secured in Scottish Liberal Democrat budget negotiations.
Commenting on the funding, Mr Cole-Hamilton said:
“For years we have campaigned to give the tens of thousands of Scots with Long Covid access to the care they need.
“Scotland is miles behind the rest of the UK in terms of the care pathways offered to sufferers but with this significant funding package, I am hopeful that we can begin to turn the corner.
“Crucially, this is recurring funding so health boards can plan and invest for the future.
"Helping people struggling with debilitating conditions get on in life if not just good for them, it’s good for our economy too.
“This is what you get with the Scottish Liberal Democrats: a party committed to delivering first-rate health care so you can see your GP or a professional when you need them.
“Scotland deserves better - and with the Scottish Liberal Democrats, you can vote for it.”
