Lib Dems blast SNP over management of NHS Grampian
Scottish Liberal Democrat lead candidate for North East Scotland Yi-pei Chou Turvey has today blasted Scottish Government neglect as new reports into NHS Grampian revealed concerns about financial sustainability, leadership and governance, and service performance.
A new report from the Auditor General notes that:
• NHS Grampian received a £65.2 million loan in 2024/25 and is projecting a £68 million overspend in 2025/26. In May 2025, Grampian was escalated to Stage 4 of NHS Scotland’s support and intervention framework due to concerns about financial sustainability, leadership and governance, and service performance.
Cllr Yi-pei Chou Turvey said:
“Everyone in the North East knows someone who is on an NHS waiting list. Too many people feel that we are being neglected by the Scottish Government.
“The funding formula for health boards has never been generous to NHS Grampian but the SNP MPs and MSPs across our region have completely failed to fight the corner for local healthcare. I think voters are entitled to question what on earth they are playing at.
“Scottish Liberal Democrats believe that the North East deserves better than this. That’s why we have a realistic plan to get things done so you can see your GP, dentist or mental health professional when you need them.
“That means ensuring the right management are in place and ministers are laser focused on improving healthcare across our region.
“Every vote for the Scottish Liberal Democrats on the second peach ballot will deliver change with fairness at its heart for every patient stuck on an NHS Grampian waiting list.”
