Harley says poor satisfaction with NHS is ‘no surprise’
Responding to a new social attitudes survey which shows that more people in Scotland are likely to be dissatisfied than satisfied with the way the NHS runs, with 60% of respondents reporting that the standard of the health service had fallen, Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Adam Harley MSP said:
“These findings come as no surprise.
“When I speak to constituents, I hear too many cases of people feeling forced to pay for private treatment because they would otherwise have to wait months or even years for NHS care.
“People are losing confidence that they will get the care they need, when they need it.
“The NHS is in real need of reform, modernisation and a relentless focus on what works. Simply carrying on as we are is not an option.
“We need people in parliament who are prepared to work together and embrace new ideas to turn things around. That is the approach I intend to take."
