Harley responds to warnings from health bosses

Responding to the comments made by Dr Ian Kennedy, outgoing chair of the British Medical Association Scotland, and Karen Titchener, Patient Safety Commissioner, who have both warned that the NHS is putting reputation before patient safety, Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Adam Harley MSP said:

“The SNP government need to take these warnings seriously.

“The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital scandal was a prime example of legitimate concerns being ignored and swept under the carpet.

“Our NHS should be about saving lives- not saving face.

“We need a health service that is fully accountable and transparent when things go wrong. As parliament returns from the summer recess, I will be making that case to ministers, making sure that they listen to the voices of staff and patients so we can deliver the high-quality healthcare Scotland deserves.”
