Harley responds to RCN report
Responding to a new report by the Royal College of Nursing that states people with learning disabilities are often being denied their human right of fair access to health and care, as NHS data shows that the number of learning disability nurses has fallen by a third across the UK, Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Adam Harley said:
“It is completely unacceptable that some of the most vulnerable people in our society cannot get the care they need.
“As this comes against a backdrop of fewer specialists and declining expertise, the problem only risks getting worse.
“In our manifesto, Scottish Liberal Democrats set out plans to establish a rolling 10-year NHS Workforce Plan, ensuring that gaps are swiftly identified and resolved.
“I will be working constructively and holding the Scottish Government to account, making sure that we fix this workforce crisis and get every patient access to the high-quality care they need."
