Responding to the UK Government’s announcement of support for pubs and music venues, Scottish Liberal Democrat economy spokesperson Jamie Greene said:

“First and foremost we need a cast iron commitment from the SNP that any money coming from Westminster will be passed on to hard-pressed Scottish pubs and music venues as swiftly as possible.

“Then we need the Scottish Government to set out what it will be doing to lift the burden on businesses who are facing massive rates revaluations. This is something that I have raised with Scottish ministers during budget talks and it is an issue that is going to need urgent attention.

“Scotland has so many small businesses who are struggling to make payroll at the end of the month. I’m sure Ivan Mckee and Shona Robison do not want to be the ones to send any of them to the wall.

“Only with a thriving economy can we afford excellent public services. It’s time for the SNP to lift the boot from the throat of small business.”
