Responding to the publication of the Scottish Budget, Scottish Liberal Democrat economy and finance spokesperson Jamie Greene MSP said:

“The question here isn’t about how the budget passes; it’s about what you get out of it, if it does.

“The Lib Dems get stuff done, which is what the public deserve from politics, so we’ve been clear with the SNP: if we see movement on our key priorities, there’s a conversation to be had.

“I am pleased to see many Liberal Democrat asks featured in today’s budget. Fixing social care, extra funding for our colleges, scrapping peak fares on Northern Isles ferries, flexible childcare and wraparound support, and making sure young people can have their own home. We also asked for support for small businesses and for the next generation of entrepreneurs, for hospices and for people with neurodivergence. All of this was added to the draft budget.

“But Scotland’s business community, especially those in hospitality and self-catering, still face choppy waters ahead.

“In the coming months, I want the Scottish Government to work with me to explore how further, targeted financial support can give more Scottish businesses the proper relief that they desperately need."
