Responding to the news that the Glen Sannox ferry requires £3.2 million in repairs after only one year in service, Scottish Liberal Democrat economy and transport spokesperson Jamie Greene MSP said:

“Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to the SNP’s ferry fiascos.

“From its sham launch with painted on windows by Nicola Sturgeon to the endless years of delays, the Glen Sannox must be in the running for the world’s most infamous ferry.

“Ask the SNP for a ferry and they'll give you a shambles. It's mindboggling how this brand-new vessel continues to be a multi-million pound drag on the public purse due to constant repairs.

“After waiting 7 years more than they should have, the islanders on Arran have seen the ship in repairs for months and now facing massive overhaul. All at the taxpayers’ expense.

“Only the Scottish Liberal Democrats have plans for a new ferries bill that will guarantee vessels are replaced on time and within budget. That’s how we will deliver for islanders, businesses along the west coast, yard workers and taxpayers.”
