Greene comments on fresh delays for Glen Sannox return

Responding to a fresh raft of delays affecting CalMac ferries, with repair work on the newly arrived Glen Sannox now extended to four months, Scottish Liberal Democrat transport and economy spokesperson Jamie Greene MSP:

“Under the SNP, Scotland’s ferries have been doomed to a constant state of duds, delays and disruption.

“The SNP were given the task of building two new ferries, but they couldn’t do it without going overbudget by hundreds of millions and taking years to finish them.

“Now, it seems that the finished one goes out of service for months on end, while the other remains more than 8 years delayed.

“Only the Scottish Liberal Democrats are calling time on this fiasco, which has let down islanders, communities and businesses along the west coast, yard workers and taxpayers.

“We’ve laid out plans for a new ferries bill that will guarantee vessels are replaced on time and within budget so that this scandal never happens again.”
