Green: Marra should grab Burnham and point him towards Europe

Scottish Liberal Democrat external affairs spokesperson David Green MSP has today said that new Scottish Labour leader Michael Marra should use his visit to Labour conference in Liverpool to press Andy Burnham to deliver a new deal with Europe to boost our defence and end the cost-of-living crisis.

David Green said:

"People wanted change after the chaos of Johnson, Sunak and Truss but Starmer badly let them down. Andy Burnham needs to be more than just Keir Starmer with a TikTok account.

"What people want is parties who finally deliver the change people are crying out for. That's why I am urging Michael Marra to use his visit to Liverpool to grab the Prime Minister and point him in the direction of Europe.

"A new deal with our European neighbours would boost our defence and deliver the growth necessary to pay for our public services and end the cost-of-living crisis.

"I hope Scottish Labour will help to convince the Prime Minister not to leave growth on the table. Scottish Liberal Democrats stand ready to work with them.”
