Cole-Hamilton responds to Swinney mental health announcement

Responding to the Scottish Government's announcement on mental health funding, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP said:

"I will never turn my nose up at more funding for mental health but this is like trying to put out a blast furnace with a thimbleful of water.

"The Scottish Government are missing their mental health targets up and down Scotland. That has to change. Supporting people to get better and get back to work would give our economy a massive boost.

“To do that Scottish Liberal Democrats would increase the number of consultant psychiatrists in training, roll out more counsellors in schools and deliver more mental health professionals in GP surgeries and A&E departments.

“Scotland deserves world-class mental health services- that starts by getting serious about staffing.”
