Cole-Hamilton comments on Scottish Covid Inquiry delays
Responding to the Chair of the Scottish Covid Inquiry indicating that it “will not be possible” for the inquiry to start and conclude its remaining hearings in 2026, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP said:
“The Scottish inquiry is lagging far behind its UK equivalent, and these further delays will be a bitter blow to everyone whose lives were ripped apart by Covid.
“People deserve an inquiry that will explain why the SNP government allowed Covid positive patients to be discharged into care homes.
“They deserve to know why Nicola Sturgeon broke her promise to bereaved families by deleting her WhatsApp messages.
“As time passes, documentation is lost and memories fade. There is no guarantee that a pandemic on this scale is a once-in-a-hundred years affair. Lessons need to be learned, and they need to be learned without any further delay.”
