Chou Turvey responds to Acorn Project doubts

Responding to reports that funding for the Acorn Carbon Capture project near Peterhead is in doubt, Scottish Liberal Democrat MSP for the North East region Yi-pei Chou Turvey said:

“The UK Government previously claimed that projects like Acorn were the answer to burning fossil fuels, but now they’re raising doubts.  

“Those doubts will only add to the harmful uncertainty that people in the North East have suffered for too long.

“It was Liberal Democrats in government that first paved the way for the Acorn Project more than ten years ago.

“The UK Government must make sure that this project gets built so we can harness the North East’s engineering expertise and create the ground-breaking green jobs the region needs.”
