Chamberlain comments on rise in sexual crime
Responding to new figures which show that sexual crimes increased by 7%, from 14,651 in the year ending September 2024 to 15,704 in the year ending September 2025, Scottish Liberal Democrat deputy leader Wendy Chamberlain MP said:
“The continued increase in sexual crime is very concerning.
“More victims coming forward can only be a good thing, but we need to make sure that our justice system is properly equipped to investigate these crimes and bring perpetrators to justice.
“That must go hand in hand with addressing violence against women and girls. Scottish Liberal Democrats have a realistic plan to tackle this crisis in all its forms, including by implementing key protections in the Domestic Abuse Act and ending the SNP government's delays."
