Chamberlain and Rennie: "Snoozefest" SNP manifesto proves Scotland deserves better

Responding to the SNP's manifesto launch, Scottish Liberal Democrats Deputy Leader Wendy Chamberlain MP said:

"What a snoozefest. The SNP's manifesto is a drab document produced by a party that's run out of steam after two decades spent failing to deliver for Scotland.

"Besides their increasingly desperate and dubious claims about independence, the SNP have nothing to offer besides the same sort of implausible freebies they've promised and then failed to deliver time and again.

"John Swinney likes to say he'll start getting things done 'on day one'. But were he to become first minister again, this would be the SNP's fifth 'day one' in a row. A third lost decade of poor services and broken promises is the last thing Scotland needs.

"The Scottish Liberal Democrats believe in getting things done. If you agree that Scotland deserves better, you can vote for us on May 7th."

And on the SNP's newfound enthusiasm for a classroom smartphone ban, education spokesperson Willie Rennie said:

"I'm glad to see the SNP backing a Scottish Liberal Democrat policy yet again. We have long argued for a full ban on smartphones in classrooms, but John Swinney has never come on board until now.

"The Scottish Liberal Democrats already have a comprehensive plan to rescue our broken schools, and Scotland needn't to wait for John Swinney to catch on before our children get the education they deserve — calculators and all."
