Appeals Tribunal
The party are looking for members to serve on their Appeals tribunal, an essential part of the Party’s independent complaints and disciplinary system.
This is a valuable opportunity to support fairness, due process and high standards across the Party.
What the role involves:
The Appeals Tribunal consider appeals arising from complaints decisions. These may include reviewing whether a decision was reached correctly, or whether any sanctions imposed are appropriate.
Under the party’s complaints procedures, appeal panels are typically made up of experienced volunteers who assess cases and make their final decision within process.
Panel Members are expected to:
- Participated in hearings
- Apply party rules and principles of natural justice
- Contribute to clear and reasoned decisions
This work plays a crucial role in ensuring the complaints process is fair, transparent and credible.
Who can apply?
Applications are open to party members who; have good judgement and the ability to weigh evidence fairly. Can handle sensitive and confidential information, and are committed to the part’s values and code of conduct
Relevant experience in legal, HR, governance and disciplinary process, is preferable but not essential.
If you are a member of the party’s Executive you are not eligible to serve on the Appeals Tribunal.
