Mel Sullivan
Candidate for Aberdeen Deeside and North Kincardine
I was elected as an Aberdeenshire Councillor in May 2022, representing North Kincardine. I've lived in Portlethen since the last millennium – moving here just before graduating from the University of Aberdeen with a degree in Economic Science. My husband is a Scout leader here and our four children attend/ed local schools.
I believe we all share responsibility for making our communities the best place they can be. I’ve contributed my time and energy whenever I’ve been able - from pre-parenthood days in sport, through to school committees, community organisations, and now as a volunteer with the charity Home-Start Aberdeen.
I am standing to be an MSP because I am tired and frustrated with the way the SNP government prioritises 'nice to have' projects over getting the essentials right. There is only so much I, as a councillor, can do, when so much of the council's budget and activities are dictated from Holyrood. Scotland needs fresh leadership and change with fairness at its heart, from people who genuinely care about their communities.
