Jenny Butler
Candidate for Midlothian North
Jenny grew up in Selkirk in the Scottish Borders and now lives in Eskbank with her husband, working for Christine Jardine MP as her Chief of Staff. Her background is in both the third and private sectors, spending time in oil and gas in the North East of Scotland as well as fundraising for Marie Curie. She has spent time volunteering with the Borders Rail Community Partnership and was appointed to the Steering Group of the Scottish Government's Climate Assembly. A type 1 diabetic for 30 years, she understands the workings of the health system more than most.
Jenny said: “People feel like nothing works anymore and their money doesn't go far enough. Nationally, whether it's the NHS, education or state of the roads, there are serious challenges across the country that need to be addressed.
“Over the next few weeks I want people to feel listened to, and I want to take all my life experience into the campaign and show people politics can be a force for good. One of the most important things we can do as candidates and politicians is to provide help and a bit of hope to those who need it, and that's what I'll always try to do.”
