Grant Toghill

Candidate for Renfrewshire North and Cardonald

Grant Toghill

A software engineer by trade, Grant Toghill lived in Erskine for 26 years before moving to Bishopton where he now lives. A local campaigner who has campaigned locally on issues ranging from the need for a new high school for Dargavel to calling for more support to keep local banking services open.

He is also a local youth group volunteer and has a keen interest in young people getting the best chance at life and making sure that local facilities are available and meet the needs of the community.

Grant said: “I am so proud to be selected as the candidate for my home. Growing up in Erskine for 26 years before moving to live in Bishopton, I have seen not just the growth of our communities but also the lack of services to support them.

“I am standing to fight for better deal for the people who make up its communities – many of them have felt totally let down by politics and politicians for years and I can't blame them.

“Scotland has so much going for it. But right now, it feels like our country simply isn’t working. Household bills are soaring. The long waits to see your GP. Seeing local councils without money to fund services.

“Seeing the loss of the last bank in Erskine reminded me of when we lost the local police station. Key services that are at the heart of communities that need to be protected and built on, not lost.

“I think Scotland deserves better than this. A realistic plan. That is why I am standing in May.”
