After a successful conference in Aviemore, we cannot wait to see what Dunfermline has in store for us!

If you didn't make it to Aviemore, you can find a Conference round up here:

Parliamentarians, councillors and supporters gathered in Aviemore at the end of April to debate health, the state of the police force, education and much more.

It was a lively weekend with a number of packed out fringe events looking at everything from diversity to farming.

Conference passed motions on...

  • Improving animal welfare regulations and licensing
  • Tackling the 8 million tonnes of plastic that is dumped in the sea each year
  • Revamping the immigration system to make it  more welcoming
  • Setting up bank hubs so small communities don't lose services
  • Committing to comprehensive police reforms and reviews
  • Reducing stigma around cervical cancer screenings
  • Working with European partners on Syria and being open to more refugees

The young liberals lodged two motions of their own. One on decriminalising abortion and another on allowing 16 year-olds to stand as candidates, which has already attracted some cross-party support.

Willie used his speech to highlight Liberals leading the way on public policy in areas such as policing, mental health and social care. He also called for the Health Secretary to resign over shameful NHS failings and criticised Ruth Davidson for not making a bigger impact on the Brexit negotiations.

Vince Cable closed the conference with a speech on Brexit, he called on the SNP to support calls for a referendum on the final deal.
