Speaking in today’s debate on proxy voting in Westminster, Jo Swinson MP, Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats said:
“We need to get our own house in order to make this simple change to enable new parents to fulfil their responsibility to their child and their constituents. We should get on with it."
Commenting on the breaking of her pairing on 17 July, Swinson said:
“Whether reasons of maternity, illness or otherwise, there is nothing honourable about deliberately breaking a pairing. It’s cheating, plain and simple.”
