Commenting as the Scottish parliament health and sport committee approved plans for free personal care for under 65s from April 2019, Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP said:
"It is absolutely essential that action is now taken to ensure people under the age of 65 with a degenerative illnesses have access to the personal care and support they need. This has been a hugely unfair burden on families for too long.
"However, the Scottish Government have a long history of making big promises and then farming the implementation - and the associated costs - out to local authorities. For this policy to achieve its admirable goals local authorities must receive the support and resources they need to deliver Frank's law as intended."
