Commenting as a new poll suggested a fall in support for Scottish independence, Scottish Liberal Democrat MP Alistair Carmichael said:
“Nicola Sturgeon, Angus Robertson and others at SNP conference have made clear that their priority is independence. This latest polls should give them pause for thought. It is time for them to put a second indyref to one side and focus on the day job.
“SNP conference was told today that police cars are being held together by cable ties and duct tape. Too many children are still leaving school without the skills they need to get on and young people have been forced to wait years for mental health treatment. Throw Brexit into the mix and there is plenty for SNP Ministers to be getting on with.
“The Scottish Government are rushing forward with the publication of an independence Bill when they should be tackling the huge challenges in health, in education and policing. The First Minister must take independence off the table.”
