Scottish Liberal Democrat general election campaign chair Alex Cole-Hamilton has today said that the Liberal Democrats want to use this election to break new ground, as he campaigned at a distillery in Edinburgh North and Leith, a seat that the Liberal Democrats have never won before.
Mr Cole-Hamilton said:
“Brexit has shaken everything up. At the European elections the Liberal Democrats beat Labour and the Conservatives in Scotland for the first time in decades. There are millions of voters who want sensible, forward-looking politics, not the division and chaos of the old parties.
“At this election we are looking to reclaim our lost heartlands in areas like the Highlands and Fife, but we are also looking to break new ground by campaigning hard in areas like Edinburgh North and Leith where we have never held a seat before.
“All across Scotland people are looking for MPs who will stand up for Scotland’s place in the UK and the UK’s place in the EU. The Liberal Democrats can give those people a voice.”
