Responding to the news that the closure of the Scottish Youth Theatre has been averted, Scottish Liberal Democrat culture spokesperson Councillor Eileen McCartin said:
"Thanks to cross party efforts and pressure from campaigners, the Scottish Youth Theatre has been saved for now. It would have been unconscionable for it to close in Scotland's Year of Young People.
"That SYT was pushed to the brink of closure while £1million was handed over to Netflix exposes just how flawed Creative Scotland's decision making processes can be.
"There are big questions that need answering about how Creative Scotland support grassroots talent and promotes the best Scotland has to offer. We need to ensure that resources like SYT are secured for future generations and we are not back circling the plughole in 12 months time."
