Responding to reports that passengers on the new Caledonian Sleeper service had their train terminated at Stafford and faced a replacement bus journey to Scotland, Scottish Liberal Democrat transport spokesperson Mike Rumbles said:
“The sleeper service should be giving the Transport Secretary sleepless nights. First it was months of delays, now it is passengers shunted onto replacement bus services. It’s simply not good enough.
“This is a vital link for people in the North of Scotland but the service so far has been dogged with delays and other problems.
“Scottish Liberal Democrats will continue to demand better for rail passengers.”
