Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie today set out the clear choice facing voters in each of the eleven Lib Dem seats as he gave a Lib Dem team talk ahead of the start of the final week of campaigning.
Speaking to a team of footballers at the World of Football in Edinburgh today, where each of the eleven footballers wore a specially-made shirt highlighting a Lib Dem held seat, Mr Rennie said:
“Neither Labour nor the Conservatives will win a majority of seats at Westminster. With the general election campaign well into the second half, voters in each of our eleven held seats face a clear decision - who do you want to influence government?
“The choice is between a stable coalition with Liberal Democrats which delivers an £800m boost for Scotland’s NHS and balances the books fairly. Or the SNP’s plans to borrow even more than Labour as they put the country into further uncertainty with their second referendum plans.
“I am confident that when we put forward this positive offer to build a stronger economy and a fairer society, people will choose to back our Lib Dem candidate in each of our eleven held seats. That is the only way to stop the SNP. We are the choice for staying on the path to recovery.”
