Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie has today called for the Scottish Government to clarify whether millions of pounds of grants awarded to Michelin, Dundee will be repaid if the company closes the plant as planned.
Mr Rennie said:
"Michelin have received generous grant awards from the Scottish Government's enterprise agency in recent years.
"This taskforce is a sensible attempt to engage with stakeholders and ensure that there is a future for the site and the workers. I hope that they can convince Michelin to reconsider their decision to close their plant.
"However, if the firm are determined to shut up shop, the Scottish Government need to clarify whether these funds will be returned so that they can be put to alternative uses supporting the people of Dundee."
