Rennie: Lib Dems would welcome Labour voters in opposing hard Brexit

Responding to a new poll which shows that almost 70% of Labour members would support holding a further referendum on Brexit, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie said:

We know that Jeremy Corbyn can’t command the support of his party’s MPs, now this new polling shows that he’s just as far out of step with his own party members in his backing for a hard Brexit.

“Rational voices in the Labour Party have recognised that the right and democratic thing to do is to give the British people the final say on any Brexit deal.

“The Labour leadership barely lifted a finger in the campaign to remain in the EU. All their voters who feel let down should know that the Liberal Democrats would welcome them in fighting wholeheartedly against Theresa May’s hard Brexit agenda.”
