Commenting on Theresa May resigning as Conservative leader today, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie said:
“Few would want to take on Theresa May’s position when the country was in turmoil and Parliament deeply divided but she stepped up and did what she thought was right. She deserves credit for that. However, she will be disappointed that she made some important misjudgements during her time at the top and ones that will adversely affect the country for a long time.
“Some say it was an impossible job but what is not impossible is to do the right thing for the country even when some of your own MPs disagree. We need to stop Brexit and we need a Prime Minister now that is prepared to make it stop.”
