Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie MSP has today urged the Scottish Government to focus on the day job after a new report from the Federation of Small Businesses showed business confidence in Scotland falling.
Mr Rennie said:
“The further drop in confidence amongst Scottish SMEs should set alarm bells ringing across the Scottish Government.
“While confidence across the UK as a whole has risen, the decline in Scotland confirms that the Scottish Government needs to focus on the day job.
“The threat of another independence referendum combined with the Brexit blow to confidence means that we are in for a rocky ride in 2017.
“That’s why we need to invest in education to grow the skilled and educated workforce that our economy needs and to end the economic damage being caused by the SNP’s plans for independence and Conservative plans for a hard Brexit.”
