A New Action Plan for Mental Health

Poor mental health causes heartbreak for individuals and families. It stops people achieving their potential.

Lockdown made things worse for many people.

Young people often wait more than a year for treatment. The virus has made it longer.

The SNP government has been slow on mental health. They are short of staff. They aren’t training enough new specialists. Waiting times are horrendous.

Liberal Democrats want a new plan of action for mental health.

  • More professional staff trained to meet the growing demand.
  • Mental health first-aiders in every workplace.
  • Extra mental health support for people who worked on the frontline when the virus was at its worst.
  • New walk-in centres and extra mental health services in A&E departments to help people more quickly.

Mental health services have been neglected for too long.

The time for action is now. And it is urgent.
