Scottish Liberal Democrat justice spokesperson, Liam McArthur MSP has today said that comments made by Alex Neil over the current situation of Police Scotland are a statement of the obvious.
Alex Neil MSP, today described the national force as “in crisis” whilst quizzing the Auditor General regarding the recent publication of Audit Scotland’s report on the Scottish Police Authority, published in December 2016.
Commenting Mr McArthur said:
“The comments made by Alex Neil are a statement of the obvious.
“For months, we have been hearing stories of a black hole in the police budget, a stretched workforce and poor morale. While the SNP have put their head in the sand, the national force has been struggling simply to do its job.
“If SNP Ministers won’t listen to anyone else, perhaps they will listen to one of their own and plug the £190 million gap in Police Scotland funding. We ask officers and staff to do a difficult job on our behalf. It is right that they should be resourced to do it.”
